When you get to a typing box it brings up the onscreen keyboard. While it could take some time to write an email.....it works well for netflix, google searches....stuff like that.
While I wouldn't call it "magic", it is a great leap forward. Over the years remotes have gotten way more complicated (eg. thousands of buttons). This one, when you figure it out, makes navigating all of the features of a smart tv fairly effortless with 9 buttons, a mute, and a wheel (although much of this ease is in the way that LG chose to set up the user interface for the tv itself). While I like the fact that is is also a universal remote....and actually can control everything, including the DVR in my cable box......it would be nice if it did my surround too. It is supposed to, but my model apparently isn't in the scope of its compatibility.
It's definitely worth the $75...but use the guide that is on the lil' disc, or in the TV's task bar to find out how to work all of the stuff...as the same buttons do multiple things.
